Important Note: The requirements for obtaining a Firearms Identification Card and a Permit to Purchase a Handgun in New Jersey are strict and may vary based on individual circumstances. CPS Training collaborates with a licensed New Jersey-certified firearms instructor to offer firearms safety training and certification for individuals pursuing Armed Security Officer training. The instruction covers various topics, including gun safety, citizen use of force, holster drawing techniques, basic pistol shooting, and qualifications for concealed carry permits. Private lessons are also available. Armed SORA Cost Requirements: - Register with the NJ State Police: $75 (Must have a valid photo ID) - $525 for SORA and Firearms Training (Includes a $50 non-refundable registration fee for CPS Training) Total: $600 Before an applicant can undergo firearms training with our certified instructor and carry a firearm, they must possess the following: 1. An NJ Firearms Identification Card. 2. Own a firearm. If you don't own a weapon, you must obtain a handgun purchasing permit from the local municipal police department to buy a gun. Cancellation Policy
Please note to receive your SORA and CPR Certifications, you must attend the entire initial training session. If you cannot attend a class due to unseen events or emergencies, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at least 8 hours before the scheduled class time. Informing us of your absence will assist us in rescheduling the class to complete your certification. If you miss one class without notice, you will forfeit your certification, and your payment will be non-refundable.
